Consultation on the World Bank Group proposed Global Partnership for Enhanced Social Accountability

Diplomatic representatives, Government officials and Tokyo based Civil Society Organisations were invited to participate in a consultation on the World Bank Group proposed Global Partnership for Social Accountability held at the Tokyo Development Centre on Monday, February 27. Aimed at strengthening beneficiary feedback and participation by supporting civil society capacity to engage with governments to enhance development effectiveness, the consultation was able to gauge series of areas that are seen as challenges in this partnership proposal. The chief guest was Mr Collin Bruce who is the World Bank Director Operations as well as the Vice President of the African region. The partnership is being examined in response to increasing evidence that development outcomes can be improved through the involvement of beneficiaries and other stakeholders in the design, monitoring and evaluation of public service delivery and resource management.
