Update on the Friends for Friends Charity Bazaar for the Great East Japan Earthquake

The Friends for Friends Charity Bazaar which was held at the ASEAN-Japan Centre on Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 May 2011 and was organised by the Ambassadors' wives of Asia and Pacific countries, including Fiji, was a great success.  On Wednesday 13 July 2011, the proceeds raised from the Bazaar was donated to Ashinaga Ikuei-kai, NGO to provide financial and mental support for children in and out of Japan, who lost their parent(s) under various unfortunate circumstances.  The proceeds, 1,715,450 yen, was presented to Mr. Kenichi Tsukada, Manager, Department of General Affairs, Publications and Public Relations (East Japan Earthquake & Tsunami Emergency Operations Center).

Ashinaga is currently planning to establish "Tohoku Rainbow House (tentative)" to lend long-term mental support to children affected by the earthquake and tsunami.
