Consultation with Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC): Potentials/Prospects of Fiji’s Mining Sector (19 May, 2011)

The consultation was convened to provide Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) with a brief overview of Fiji’s Mining Sector and in particular the upcoming conference in Suva, Fiji later this year for a full overview of Fiji’s Mining Sector and related potentials for investment. The Embassy notes that JOGMEC in collaboration with the Japanese government, municipal governments, Japanese companies and foreign partners, has vast experience in its activities which include financial assistance, technology development and technical support, stockpiling, gathering/providing information, mine pollution control and overseas field surveys. JOGMEC will await confirmation of conference dates in Fiji and will assist the Embassy in our efforts to advise renowned mining companies in Japan of the proposed conference in Fiji.
