Fiji Government Assistance to Students Affected by the Tohoku Earthquake & Tsunami: Consultation with Iwate Prefecture Government (Tokyo) Officials – 12 May 2011

The Ambassador today commenced consultation with Tokyo based officials of Prefectures directly affected by the March 11 Tohoku earthquake & tsunami. The consultation with senior officials from the Iwate Prefecture Tokyo based office was to advise on the offer of assistance and the mechanism now in place to firm up all logistics arrangements. Iwate Prefecture officials expressed their sincere gratitude for the generous offer of assistance and will refer the offer to the Iwate Prefectural Government Office for further consultations.
