Elections Visit Programme (6 – 13 April, 2011)

The Japan International Cooperation Department under the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS) organised an ‘Election Visit Programme’ inviting young officers who work at the electoral division from East Asia Summit member countries, Timor-Leste, New Zealand and Fiji from 6 – 13 April, 2011 on the occasion of the Tokyo Gubernatorial Election 2011 in Japan. The programme was designed to target 3 key areas including (1) Introduction to Japan’s history and current state of the Japanese election system (2) Sharing experiences and best practices and (3) Establishing networks among participating countries.

Fiji is grateful for the invitation to participate in the programme and it reflects well with Fiji Government’s reform program to have in place a fair and sustainable election system. Fiji was represented by Mr Viliame Ledua from the Elections Office.
