Presentation of Credentials to President Lee Myung Bak, Republic of Korea
HE Ambassador Mataitoga on Tuesday12 October 2010 presented his credential to President Lee Myung-Bak at a pompous ceremony held at the Blue House, the Presidential Mansion in Seoul as Fiji’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Korea. This is another positive development in the Fiji Government’s strategy of reaching out to many countries in the international community, which the Prime Minister recently announced in his speech to the United Nations General Assembly. It is also a recognition by the Government of Korea that it is happy to engage with the Fiji Government at the highest level of diplomatic relations.
The Ambassador on Monday 11th October, 2010 called on HE Mr Taeyong Cho, Ambassador and Chief of Protocol in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Seoul, Korea to present copies of his Letter of Credence and the Letter of Recall of his predecessor. Ambassador Taeyong Cho expressed the gratitude of the Korean Government in having an officer of such illustrious background and experience to be Fiji’s Ambassador to Korea. Both Ambassador’s agree that they must work together to strengthen and deepen Fiji/Korea bilateral relations. The Embassy wishes to thank the Protocol Division at MOFAT, Seoul for all the wonderful arrangements extended on arrival to departure. We also acknowledge Fiji’s Honorary Consul General in Seoul, General Woo Joo Chang and his staff for their hospitality.
