Visit to Tochigi Prefecture: Official call on the Tochigi Prefecture Governor

The Ambassador officially called on Governor Tomikazu Fukuda on Wednesday 26 May, 2010 at the Tochigi Prefecture Government Office to discuss trade and investment opportunities for the business arm of Tochigi Prefecture with people from Fiji. This is based on common areas of investment and trade that can be explored with Tochigi Prefecture in addition to people to people exchanges. The meeting was also an opportunity to advise Governor Fukuda of relations established with Takanezwa Town, a municipality under Tochigi Prefecture and Sigatoka Town, Fiji through the Friendship Town/City concept. It was observed that the concept when well nurtured will further strengthen relations with Tochigi in terms of trade and investment opportunities.

Governor Fukuda is optimistic of deepening relations with Fiji through the Takanezawa/Sigatoka friendship relations. He has a high opinion of Fiji’s Tourism Industry and feels that Tochigi can invest in this sector through established People to People exchange programs targeting Elementary School students and other group visits to Fiji from Tochigi.
